Membership Statuses
 |
Active
|
Upon initiation, candidates automatically become
Active members of the Sorority. Active members are eligible to participate
in all aspects and levels of the local, district, and national
chapter. To maintain active status, a member must fulfill the following
conditions:
-
Active members must be involved in a
University Ensemble in the Spring and Fall Semesters.
-
Active members must complete all financial
obligations set by the local and national chapter.
-
Active members must maintain compliance with
the standards of participation and attendance as set by the chapter.

academic standards set by their chapter.

Alumni
|
Alumni membership status is granted to those
members in good standing who have completed their undergraduate work, terminated
their university affiliation, or entered graduate school. Alumni members
may attend all sorority meetings and activities, but are non-voting
members. If an Alumni member fulfills all of the requirements for active
membership and wishes to be reinstated as such, the members may petition the
chapter. A 2/3 vote of the chapter is necessary for the alumni to be
reinstated.
 |
Life
|
Life membership is available to alumni members and
to active members in their last year of membership upon payment of the Life
Membership fee of $250 and completion of the required paperwork with National
Headquarters. Life members receive the same benefits as alumni members.
 |
Inactive
|
Members who remain enrolled in school but do not
pay their annual dues are considered inactive, and are in bad standing with the
local, district, and national chapter. Inactive members have no membership
rights.
 |
Honorary
|
Honorary membership is the highest honor paid by
the sorority. It is extended to those individuals who have shown outstanding
ability, accomplishments, or devotion to the best interests of the
sorority. Honorary members are entitled to the same privileges as life
members.
 |
Conditional
|
Conditional status is an option for active members
who are unable to participate in an ensemble due to a work and/or class
conflict. Conditional status may be granted by the chapter in response to
a written request from the member, and may be used for one year only. All
other obligations must be fulfilled in order to maintain good standing in the
local and national organizations. If at the end of a one year period, the
member has not regained active status or become a life or alumni member, he/she
will be listed as inactive with the chapter.
 |
Associate
|
Associate membership in Tau Beta Sigma is available
to those members of Kappa Kappa Psi who transfer to a university where there is
only a TBS chapter, and vice-versa. To associate with a different chapter
at their new school, the member must be educated in the history and traditions
of the chapter. Associate members are entitled to all the benefits of
active membership.
